  I purchased my home 21 years ago, and a treated wood deck serves the front door entry in lieu of a concrete walkway. Over the last couple years, it degraded to a state of disrepair with wood rot that could cause safety issues for family and guests.
  Mike’s Handy showed up and began demolition. It was immediately evident that the original deck had not been built properly. The original deck was installed over a concrete walkway and garden areas, and the support boards were set directly into the earth. The construction did not allow for roof water runoff to drain from beneath the deck, and there was no airflow to assist with drying out the soil under the deck. I was disappointed but not surprised by this; every project on this house is always bigger than it looks based on the inferior workmen used by the previous homeowners.
  This expanded the project beyond the original scope of work, but Mike quickly assessed the needs to rebuild the deck support structure and got them on-site to begin rebuilding. I greatly appreciate the time he took to discuss and educate me on the current structural issues and the proper method of remediation.
  The finished project is beautiful, structurally sound, and build properly. I hosted 50+ people for my daughter’s post-wedding reception party, and I was confident that no guest would fall through the deck boards!
